When I did my first Yoga teacher training course, back in 2005, I was initiated in a mantra, and given a spiritual name.
That name was Yamuna.
Yamuna is a sacred river in India. When I was given this name, I was told my the swami that it meant:
symbol of flow of consciousness.
Today - 13 years later - I name my Yoga practice Yamuna, for a flow of consciousness is exactly what I hope for my students/clients/families/friends to achieve, not only in their asana practice on the mat, but on their everyday life, throughout their pregnancy, during labor and childbirth, in their "Sacred Window" postpartum, and throughout their lives.
